What is MoreBirths

MoreBirths is a data-driven resource dedicated to helping humanity to understand and ultimately solve the low birthrate crisis that has taken hold across the world.

Seeing the problem

Understanding Fertility Collapse

around the world, why we are so slow to see it, and how it is striking at the core of progress and innovation itself.

Why population collapse is so devastating

by hitting hardest in the most innovative countries, and how this will be catastrophic for technological progress and civilization itself.

A focus on solutions

Most of all MoreBirths is here for solutions. Low birth rates are not due to one factor but many. Although some factors have a bigger impact than others, it is important to understand all the variables at play as we work toward solutions.

So MoreBirths explores causes and solutions in a range of domains:

How pronatal and antinatal beliefs and messages drive fertility

and how current beliefs help explain the current decline.

Marriage as the single strongest predictor of childbearing

and how the collapse in marriage around the world is leading a collapse in family formation, so that marriage matters even more than in the past.

The fertility of the faithful

and what we can learn from the groups among us that seem to be defying birthrate collapse.

The remarkable impact of housing on birthrates

and how the data show huge differences in whether children come based on housing type, density and cost.

The difficult tug of war between work and home life

and possibilities for balancing these competing interests.

And a whole lot more!

Who is MoreBirths

The primary contributor to MoreBirths is Daniel Hess, a father of 6 with a background in high tech who has the goal to go through all the empirical data to be found about what drives birthrates, and share what I learn with the reader.

Although I will sometimes fail, my goal is always to stick closely to the evidence and let the data tell the story.

Let’s learn together, and become part of the solution what Elon Musk and many other thinkers have called the greatest risk to civilization today.

Why subscribe?

We want education about the low birthrate crisis to be available for all. Articles are currently free and available for all with no subscription.

We offer a subscription tier as a form of donation for supporting the extensive research and writing time involved, and appreciate any support, as it helps us dedicate more time to this important work, and may allow for more proactive marketing to amplify More Births content over time.

With support from volunteers, More Births is developing ideas for how we can make this site a rich resource on fertility factors. Your subscriptions will unlock new initiatives that help realise these ambitions, and may in the future allow access to archived or additional subscriber content.
